MY WIKI PROJECT

Hello, my followers!😊😊

This post is about a book review. I was assigned a task about creating a wiki entry for "Instructional Techniques and Materials Desing" course. I selected "You Can Heal Your Life". It 's one of the most popular self - help books in the world. I hadn't heard it before my friend advised me. Then, I read the book and I really liked it. If you want to have an idea about the book, you can read my review.

After I created my wiki, I visited one of my classmate's page and ask a question, also I answered my friends' questions.

You can click here to read it. Enjoy it.☕☕☕

Have you ever created a wiki?  If your answer is no, you should create it. I'm sure you will become addicted to it.

MY PODCAST: A LOVELY DREAM

Hello everyone! πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ This post is about creating a podcast.πŸ“»πŸ“»
I created a podcast for my Instructional Technologies and Material Design course. Me and my friend Reyyan Hacer HΓΌnerli narrated a short story and recorded it.

We were supposed to be creative in this task. The instructor gave the first sentence of the story and wanted us to use some certain vocabularies and sound effects in the story.

Writing a creative story was the hardest part, it was supposed to be around 60 seconds but our podcast lasted more than 60 seconds.

Also, we added sound effects to the podcast.Recording part was quite easy. When you think to create a podcast, you should visit this website, because it’s free and user-friendly.

I want to use podcasts with my students in the future. Students may create their own podcasts or I may record a podcast to teach some subjects so they will use the technology and discover different tools. Perhaps my students may understand that there is not only one way of learning English. I think students may realize new dimensions in learning English with the help of podcasts.

What do you think about using podcasts in your class?

TEACHING WITH TECHNOLOGY

 Taken here

Hello, my followers! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰This post is about teaching with technology.

Technology is constantly changing and developing. It is everywhere and sometimes we don’t realize it, because it is part of our daily lives. Also, technological improvements have affected education.

Today technology is not a tool in the classroom because it is integrated into teaching, so it affects both learning and teaching. Moreover, it is transparent.  This means that teachers use blackboards, slides almost every day, but students don’t recognize them. Technology has become an indispensable part of teaching. In other words, teachers integrated technology into teaching.  Is integrating technology into teaching enough?

In my opinion, pedagogy has also a crucial role in teaching with technology. Not only integrating technology into teaching but also changing the pedagogy is important for teachers to create an effective learning environment, because we are living in the 21st century. Students need to get some skills to be successful in life and classrooms are the best places to acquire these skills. Therefore teachers need to use technology in the classroom.

Teaching with technology has many advantages. For instance, technology makes learning more enjoyable. Students don’t get bored during the lesson. Also, technology helps students to be more innovative, so students engage in the lesson and have an opportunity to learn more deeply. Furthermore, students may create technology and share with others on the internet or digital platforms. On the other hand, teaching with technology has some disadvantages. For example, students may lose interaction in the classroom and they may waste time on the internet.

I’m planning to integrate technology into my teaching because I think the benefits of technology outweigh the costs. Also, I believe that children are familiar with technology and they are eager to use it in the classroom. I want to create different kinds of plays, activities, tasks with using technology. πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹

HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF CALL

Hello everyone!!! 😊😊😊This post is about technology integration into language learning and teaching. Specifically, we are going to talk about CALL. Briefly, CALL refers to computer-assisted language learning. At the bottom of the post, you will see the timeline which I created about the historical development of CALL.πŸ”»πŸ”»πŸ”»

  • 1960s&1970s: Behaviouristic CALL: Stimulus-Response-Feedback and habit formation were the key concepts. The Audiolingual method was used in language teaching and learning.
  • 1970s&1980s: Communicative CALL:  Communicative use of language was the main focus. Students were expected to generate real utterances. Computers were used to stimulate the discussion. Also, computers were seen as tutors, tools, and stimuli.
  • 21st Century: Integrative CALL, MID-1990s:  Constructing and sharing knowledge played crucial roles in language learning and teaching. Task-based, content-based approaches were used in language teaching. People began to use desktop computers and the internet spread around the world.
If you click here, you can see my timeline about Call.

How will CALL change in the future?✨

A NEW VISION FOR LEARNING AND TEACHING

Hello my followers! πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒThis post is about 21st century learning.

As you know, technology has progressed in every field over the last two decades and it has influences on learning and teaching. Human beings need to have some skills to survive in this age. In other words, whoever wants to be successful in anywhere of the world has to have some specific skills. We call them “21st century skills”.

These skills include “Learning and Innovation Skills”, “Information, Media and Technologies Skills”, “Life and Career Skills” and “Learning and Innovation Skills”.

“21st century skills” are crucial to be successful in school, work and life, but “Learning and Innovation Skills” which are also called “4Cs” affect learning and teaching in the classroom. “4Cs” refer to:
  • Critical thinking,
  • Communication,
  • Collaboration,
  • Creativity.

Today, students are “doer” and “creator” in the classroom, and teachers are facilitators, so teachers need to integrate technology in the process of teaching. Teachers should use different tools, technologies, tasks in the classroom. Moreover, they should change their pedagogy to become effective teachers and upgrade their teaching skills.

Do you need any changes in your teaching process?❓❓❓❓
